Kirgizia (official called Kyrgyz Republic) is situated between Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and China with the area of 198,500-sq. km. Mountains occupy more 90 percent of country. The population is about 5 million people (Kyrgyz - 60%, Russian - 16%, Uzbek - 14%, Ukrainians, Germans, Uighurs, Koreans and Chinese). Main religions are Islam and Christianity. Languages: the state language is Kyrgyz and the official language is Russian. Towns: Bishkek city is the capital (about 1 million inhabitants), Osh (215.000), Tokmok (71.000) and Karakol (70.000).
